Trail: Hell Roaring #1960

Difficulty: strenuous

Description: The trail starts 2 miles up the Avalanche Creek trail. It is a steep trail with some flowers near the top or the ridge and great views of Avalanche Creek and the Roaring Fork Valley. This trail is used primarily by horses during the fall hunting season. The trail ends on the ridge and from here you can continue on to the Williams Lake trail.

Directions: From Carbondale travel south on Hwy 133. Go 12.5 miles to Avalanche Creek. Turn left and proceed 3 miles to Avalanche Creek Trailhead after the campground. Hike 2 miles up the Avalanche Creek Trail, the Hell Roaring Trail branches off to the left just before the bridge.
